Introduction

Life is very mysterious.

Living organism imports and exports energy and small materials from the outside autonomously, and never stop at the static state. In a small cell, there are many kinds of activities, including various chemical reactions and dynamics of molecules. After the such activities, a cell divides into its two copies, as if a fairy would conduct everything.

We are making efforts to understand biological phenomena theoretically and computationally. We consider protein (or DNA) sequences and structures are the origin to realize all phenomena: we treat them as naturally as possible, without giving them roles artificially.

Of course, it should be difficult to investigate only a single E.coli cell theoretically at the atomic resolution. Currently, we address proteins, molecules that organize, regulate and maintain living organism. We investigate protein sequence, folding, structures, domain architectures, oligomerization, functions, and protein interaction networks. Also, we address genomic sequences that are the blue-print of genetic information. To evaluate our understanding of life, challenging to design artificial protein is important.

To conduct the research, we analyze biological data in a number of databases, and in cases, we developed our own databases. Additionally, we generate data for biological systems employing molecular dynamics simulations. Our research area is called as “Bioinformatics”.
